Winter Star/Snowflake Free Crochet Pattern

With that said, let's get right into the materials.


Materials


- 5 mm crochet hook





We have not purchased this product ourselves, but the twine linked below has amazing reviews and is perfect for this project if you plan on turning it into an ornament. Gauge and Final Measurements


Gauge for double crochet stitches:

15 stitches and 8 rows in 4 inches



Measurements:

Diameter of center circle is 3.25 inches

Length from star point to opposite star point is 5.5 inches




Abbreviations


mr - magic ring

rnd - round

ch - chain

st - stitch(es)

sl st - slip stitch

sc - single crochet

hdc - half double crochet

dc - double crochet



Pattern


Create mr, then ch 3


Rnd 1: dc 11 in mr. Sl st in beginning ch 3 stitch (12)


Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st. *Dc 2 in next st. Repeat from * to end of rnd. Sl st in beginning ch 3 st (24)



Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc 2 in next stitch. *Dc in next st, dc 2 in following stitch. Repeat from * to end of rnd. Sl st in beginning ch 3 st (36)


Rnd 4: *Ch 8, sl st in 6th dc st from hook. Repeat from * to end of rnd. (54)


This is what your Winter Star should look like so far:




Rnd 5: *In the next ch 8 space: sc 2, hdc 2, dc, ch 3, dc, hdc 2, and sc 2. sl st in the following st (the sl st from the previous round). Repeat from * to end of rnd (84)


Fasten off and hide remaining yarn ends.
